newkman Posted March 6, 2010 Share Posted March 6, 2010 Hello, I'm a new guy to Klipsch speakers & I have a question about the finish. On the back of my KGs it says " OAK CLR" Does that mean there is a clear coat over the veneer? I want to at least clean them up but I don't want to start oiling them if I need to remove the clear coat first. Groomlakearea51 Posted March 6, 2010 Share Posted March 6, 2010 Correct; OPEX/Valspar #40 sheen clear coat lacquer. damp cloth is recommended. If they are scratched, etc, then you can refinish them, but will need to sand the old lacquer off and use lacquer thinner to "lift" as much out of the pores as possible.
