Buying the components for my HT, need help?

My room size is 24 x 14 and I was going to go with the Reference 3II series HT setup (sounds awesome by the way) but I've decided to find something that will take up less space. (Actually my wife decided) I heard the Quintet system with the KSW 10 sub at my local audio dealer and they sounded great with DVD's for movies but not great for music. The room was actually bigger than mine, so the acoustics maybe played a role.

My question is this, can I substitute in the KSC-CS1 for my center which seems to have a little more substance than the center which comes with the package. I would also like to use the KSW-12 for my sub. Will this this combo work well together or is there something else I should be considering?

Thanks in advance for any advice....

Hey GONZOE and welcome to the forum! Theres alot of great

people here and can always help out. Ill try to give

you the best advice I can. For the sub you definatley

money permitting would want to go with the KSW12 its

got alot more oomph for only being 2 inches bigger than

the 10 has. And as for the center channel I would think

the Quintet center would be more than good enough Its

Timbre matched to the quintets that means the tweeter

is voice matched if you didnt know I dont wanna confuse

you I had no clue what the term ment 6 months ago.

The SC-1 would work too. And you can always get a pretty

penny for that Quintet center there hard to find.

Best of luck with your new system and any questions you

may have feel free to ask.

Gonzo - If it's small size your wife wants, have you looked at the Klipsch Synergy System 6? It is composed of the SB-1, SS-.5 surround, SC-.5 center, and sub of your choice (go for a 12" sub, at least). This system will do both HT and music well, where the Quintets are really more for HT only (as you noticed). It's not much more money than the Quintet system, and will leave you happier in the long run.

If you're in the Reference budget area, have you considered using the RB-3/RB-5 bookshelf speakers for the mains, rather than the floorstanding RF3?
