Truther
I have chance to purchase a Marantz 2250B to go with my new Cornwall speakers (70's model). Would this be an acceptable match? Does this model have enough amps for these speakers, or should I wait it out and possibly get a 2270 or a pioneer 828?
artarama
Hello, I have no experiance with Cornwalls (unfortunately) but I do have a 2250b that I enjoy a lot! I have ran it with Heresy's and Forte' II's. They all sounded great. The Marantz will have plenty of power to put out a great sound. It also has a very good phono stage if you play LP's. There are many Marantz fans here that can pitch in their thoughts. I like the sound of the Marantz and had used it often as my preamp for that reason. If you found you wanted more power you could do the same as it has the pre-outs needed. They hold their value as well.

willland
Truther, I just updated my avatar with my Marantz 2252B right before I saw your post. I have used it to power KG4's, Forte's, Quartet's, Heresy's, and RB-5's. One word to describe, SWEET. I now am using it as a preamp with Marantz MA-700 monoblocks with the Quartet's. I was afraid I might lose that signature Marantz sound but was thrilled that the amps did nothing but enhance everything. More of all the great vintage Marantz qualities.
