marems
Hello all! Im kinda stuck in a subwoofer purchase dilemma, I have a KLF H.T. setup and Im looking for a sub that will keep up and kick some *** with the KLF line Im running. Tight budget, in the $600-$700 range... I have thought about the JBL JRX118S and power it with my Berhringer EP4000. But the specs on the sub are from -10 db 38-300 HZ. Anyone have any experience with the JBL sub??? will it dig deep enough?? And what about the Klipsch RW-12? I have also found a RT-10d for $650. wuzzzer
A sub that is already down 10 decibels at 38Hz will be absolutely worthless for home theater. The best values out there are from internet direct brands such as Hsu, elemental designs and SVS. Virtually all subs in your price range from those companies will have useable output well below 20Hz and high SPL capability to keep up with your KLFs. It never hurts to search craigslist and audiogon.com for those brands to see if any are available on the used market. You might even find one locally and save on shipping charges. Tim Currie
I have KLF-20's and got lucky finding a SVS PB12/2 on craigslist. That thing is silly! 2 12s and loads of power. Definitely keeps up with the KLF's. I'd really check out the SVS line.
