  1. Same here. I just can't imagine anything else sounding THAT much better. Definitely not $1,000+ better (got mine for $440). However, I DO wanna get the titanium tweets.
  2. . Not to be a d*ck, but your screen is only as big as the pond it's swimming in. There are sharks in these waters that will eat you up. Just sayin. EDIT: hmmmm, I tried to delete this, but couldn't figure out how? I didn't mean to sound so antagonistic. Haha... for sure! I have projector dreams........
  3. Damnit, I guess this forum does not like Chrome either........(had it typed all nice with spaces)
  4. I've got KLF-20's and also a pair of Infinity Sm125. In a way, the Infinity SM's are similar in design to Klipsch. They are efficient, dynamic, big, and loud. The KLF's are more of all of those. And they also have a detail and clean realistic sound that the Infinity's do not have. If you have the ear for them, I think you'll really like the KLF's and see them as a big step up from your SM122's. I have a Sony ES receiver @ 120 watts per channel and it sounds fine and drives them nicely.
  5. Thought the same thing with Battle LA. After the reviews I was ready for disappointment. Aside from 1 or 2 slightly cheesy explosion scenes, I thought it was really good and intense! Review's be damned.
  6. Probably. Sorry, no help here. I don't a thing about the new receivers. Mine is a few years old hand-me-down and it rocks just fine.
  7. Sure it would fit! You gotta get rid of everything else on the wall. Speaker, screen, speaker. Done.
  8. Here's what I mean, when I'm watching a movie it's like "BAM!" And those are KLF-20's....they're big!
  9. Not to be a d*ck but I think some of you are in painful need of more screen! Your speaker to screen size ratios are way outta whack!
  10. Hey Fish, would like to know why/how your RF-7's kick your KLF-20's butt? Just curious. I have the KLF's and looking to do the mods Moray James suggests and have never heard the RF-7's. (but even as they are, I can't imagine the KLF-20's can get THAT much better, they're so damn good now)
  11. So I just watched Master & Commander for the first time, Blu Ray, after reading about the epic bass scenes. After setting up the speaker levels and sub level with an SPL meter (finally). I did use the SPL Meter app for iPhone (since I can never get around to buying the RS meter) but it's supposed to be "more accurate than the Radio Shack meter". Anyway. First went through the receiver's test tones and set to 75db. Then popped in Avia DVD and went through it's audio setup. The Avia (played through Blu Ray player) was slightly louder but the levels were still equal. In both the Avia and the receiver test tones, the subwoofer signal came in at about 59-60db when the other channels were measuring 75-76db. Now this was with the receiver sub level at 0db and the sub amp gain at about 1/3. I had been listening to the sub at this level for both music and movies till now, I couldn't imagine it being that much louder. I cranked the gain on the sub amp and still only got it to the low 70's with the test signals. I put it back to around 60db and figured I was doing something wrong, because at that gain the sub kicks yer ***. *side note* while doing the low freq sweep in Avia I learned my room has terribly UNflat bass. Big boomy bass at certain freq and some nulls as well. That'll be for another day, or another house. Watched the movie, turned down the master volume -5db (from where I set it at 75db) and it was LOUD. The cannon scenes kicked my ***! I mean, couch shaking, windows buzzing, kick you in the chest, bass. It was awesome. Question is: is the sub level on the test signal seriously supposed to be @ 75db as well? I can't imagine it being anywhere near that loud. I use the sub as a side table and it was literally shaking the remote off the top of it. Bonus question: does anyone actually watch movies at 'reference level' at home? 85db? Seriously? I like my music/movies loud and I like my bass but I dunno...... Cliffs: Finally set speaker levels w/ SPL meter. Bass was way low, but still loud. Watched movie, bass blew my brains out, reference level for real? Gear: Sony ES receiever @120 wpc Klipcsh KLF-20 mains SVS PB12-2ISD
  12. Nothing fancy here. Sony ES receiver 120 watts per channel.
  13. Aside from what everyone already said. I have them. I love them. Best I've had/heard.
  14. Just wanted to add one more vote for the iTunes/Airplay option. It just works great and is so simple. I have everything ripped to Apple Lossless on my mac laptop, iTunes sends it wirelessly to the airport express, and it sends it via optical to the receiver. It sounds fantastic! And......I can even use the my iphone as a remote.
  15. Hahaha......awesome. I felt similar when I picked up my KLF-20's (my first Klipsch). Would love to compare to them RF7IIs.......someday. Enjoy the most rockin' speakers you can get!
  16. Haha, you guys are so 1995. Here is my storage:
  17. One more vote to keep the 30's. I've got the 20's and a monster SVS sub and its perfect.
  18. Just a quick question. I've got a few year old Sony (dont wanna hear it, works great ) ES receiver that is spec'd at 120 watts per channel, 7.1 I only use 5.1, mains are KLF-20's. You think I'd notice a big difference with one of the big 3 channel amps like the Emotiva that do 200x3 across the front? I rarely feel the need to blast movies or games at ridiculous levels but I do like it loud. And music is 2 channel so the receiver ought to put out a decent amount of power in 2 channel no? Worth it or no?
  19. iTunes works really nice if you do it right. I have my cd's ripped into ALAC on my apple laptop and I play it wirelessly through iTunes. It sends the signal to an Apple Airport Express (wireless router) and then from the airport express to the receiver via optical cord. So it stays 100% digital and no funny stuff all the way to the receiver. Sounds great and is super cool.
  20. Wow, yea........that pretty much says it. You win. I don't blame her. You've got Parrot, leok, ben, et al, in your attic. Must be pretty awful... I miss them all. mobile homeless (Kelly) was, in fact, a gentleman. All had a good side one way or the other. As to stereo, it isn't stereo, but a diminished national attention span that simply cannot sit still for Pink Floyd, much less Beethoven. My oldest friends with whom I once sat with all of us mesmerized by almost any wonderful recording now can't listen for 5 minutes. I don't understand it, but, as the Firesign said: "It's a little like having bees live in your head. But, there they are!" Dave In the "fall" the attic isn't too bad. It's a stand up attic with, no crawling around, much like the ones you see in old movies; all kinds of tales to tell....
  21. Good thoughts James thanks. I dont actually have the ginormous KLF-C7 yet, just the puny one that is filling in for now. The TV stand I have is crap and ugly and cheap, basically rigged up for now. So I definitely want to replace it. I think I probably will go the custom built route since the TV is huge and not that far from the couch so it just cant be more than a little over 20" off the floor or it will be way too high. So thats the problem, with a center channel that is, I think, 11" high just by itself. So I gotta come up with something that will fit that center plus the other components and be not much higher than 20" from the floor!
  22. That sounds retarded (in a good way)! I've got a dual 12" SVS in a single box so I think I'm in a gray area.........?
  23. I just came across this thread and read through it and thought........man its even worse now 6 years later! NONE of my friends are into quality stereo, they just don't care. iPods rule. The ONLY stores left where I live are Best Buys, and I've noticed that in Best Buy they hardly carry any real speakers any more. Now it seems that thinner, and lighter, and thinner, and 3d, and brighter, and thinner HDTV's are ALL anyone cares about. Maybe some cute little satellite speakers to make it into a "home theater" if they have speakers at all. Think it'll ever come back? Or do people just not care anymore?
  24. I have KLF-20's and got lucky finding a SVS PB12/2 on craigslist. That thing is silly! 2 12s and loads of power. Definitely keeps up with the KLF's. I'd really check out the SVS line.
