lerajie
Just last night I purchased a Denon DVM-3700 to replace my problematic Toshiba SD 2200. Initial impressions are VERY good. I notice a very large difference between the Denon and the Toshiba especially on HDCD disks. Overall sound is much better than the Toshiba and my old Sony DVP 650. Picture quality as well is markedly improved. However, the remote is a total turd burglar. Good thing I can control the DVM-3700 w/my RC-8000 and I can use RF instead or IR via the control port. The only other fault I can find so far is the mechanism is a little slower than that of my Sony. I was going to wait for Denon to make a 5 disk progressive scan, DVD audio(w/proper bass mgmt.) capable player but I needed something now. The fact that I got the player $400 less than MSRP didn't hurt either. ------------------ lerajie
willjam
Congratulations - I also own a DVM-3700 and think it is a terrific player. My only complaint is that this unit does not play CD-Rs or CD-RWs. The picture and sound quality is superb. I do not know what would be gained with progressive scan. I am playing mine through a 1985 25" RCA 2000 Monitor-Receiver. This set still puts out a terrific picture. The sad thing is that it is a 25 incher. Enjoy your new Denon! Bill J.
lerajie
I am enjoying it very much. It's a fantastic unit. About the downfall I can see so far is the slow inital reading of the disks. Otherwise it is the best player I have ever owned. ------------------ lerajie
