Inexpensive DVD player... for the parents???

Hey everyone,

I know there has been a lot of discussion on dvd players on this board but none of it covers the less expensive models. See, my parents are planning on getting an inexpensive set up and I'm trying to figure out the best dvd player for less than 300. Their tv is a Sony Vega 36 XBR (supports progressive scan), with a JVC 9010 receiver, and Klipsch Quintets.

Trying to figure out if say the Denon 800 w/out prog scan would be better than a cheap sony (or whatever) w/ prog scan. Suggestions???

I almost bought the Toshiba SD 4700(or 5700) because it had DVD Audio capability.

Panasonic RP56 has the farudia chip.

Sony 700 model is pretty nice.

All of these can be had for $ 300 or less

I ended up buying the Panasonic RP91 for the superior Audio capability.

Panasonic RP-56. Around $220 I believe, progressive scan, nice dvd player for its price.

My hodge-podge of equipment

Denon AVR-2800

KG-4 mains (too bad the rest of my speakers aren't this good)

Polk C-175 center (it's ok)

Infinity RS-10 Surrounds (suck)

Audiosource SW-15 subwoofer (excellent sub for it's price)

Pioneer DV333 DVD

Sony 5 disc CD player

All in a 12x12 apartment bedroom.

"What?! I can't hear you!"
