vnzbd Posted January 6, 2011 Share Posted January 6, 2011 I am considering upgrading to a HDMI capable receiver and am looking at the Onkyo 806. It states that it has Burr-Brown DACs but does not go into much more detail than that. Has anybody purchased an Onkyo with the BB DACs and if so could any audible difference be heard? jacksonbart Posted January 6, 2011 Share Posted January 6, 2011 They were a private company and made some of the best DAC in the industry. They were purchased in 2003ish by Texas Instruments. They are still very good but good DAC now are much more of a comodity than an art now. The costs have dropped and the quality has risen.
