kevinmi
I recently purchased a used Cary SPL98P preamp with the F1 upgrade. This pre came with the black faceplate and red body, which looked great, but didn't match my other silver compoents.

kevinmi
I also upgraded the tubes with NOS 1944 vintage Ken-Rad 12SN7's, Amperex 12ax7's and Sylvania 12AU7's in the phono section. This is the best preamp I've ever heard to date! Of course now it makes me want to upgrade everything else. The cost of the silver faceplate and knobs was around $350.00, but it was worth it to me. I have a new stereo rack in the works that will make the whole system look better. Stay tuned for more pics!
mikebse2a3
Very Nice with the silver face..!.and a great pre IMHO. I've also owned the SLP98L version with the Kimber Caps instead of the oil coupling caps and was completely satisfied with it..! Never wanted to change a thing and it had great synergy with my system and the only reason I sold it was when I changed my system I didn't need the pre-amp anymore since I was also using a Musical Fidelity CD-Pre24 mike tn.
