@silverfox@
I am listening to ht with Quartets Front R&L surr SS center SC1 using A125x5 Acurus. also have 78 Cornwalls which I am only able to use when Idisconnect Quartets. Whenever I hook up Cornwalls the systen looses its compatibility. " QUESTION" WILL I DAMAGE SPEAKERS OR AMP. by hooking BOTH QUARTETS to the center channel. Thanks in advance for your assist
dougdrake
Quartets - Nice!! Are you asking about hooking both the Quartets AND the SC-1 to the center channel? If you hook just the Quartets to the binding posts of the center channel on your Acurus, you will be cutting the impedance in half. So, if the Quartets nominal impedance is 8 ohms (per the Klipsch site), it will become 4 ohms when you hook them up in this fashion. That can strain an amp, but probably will not strain the Acurus because it is pretty robust (I have an Acurus 200x3). If you hook the Quartets AND the SC-1 to the center channel, the impedance will drop further, but I'm not sure how far (anyone?). But, I'm not clear about why you would want to do this? ShapeShifter
I wonder if he's considering using the Quartets as Center with the Cornwalls as mains? I tried one of my Quartets with my 85 Cornwall I's as fronts. The sound was not entirely seamless match across the front. I suspect this was due to the 90°x40° Tractrix® Mid-Horn in the Quartet vs. the two Exponential Horns of the Cornwall. However, a single Quartet Center should be more pleasing than the current Center choice, imho of course. Upgrading the rears at a minimum to RS-3's would also improve your HT movies. ------------------ "KLIPSCH IS MUSIC"f>
@silverfox@
Thank you for your response, and do apreciate your imput. my plan was to hook up both Quartets to the center chanel.I felt that only one would tend to shift the sound to one side. Trey from klipsch also responded and suggested that my carrier needed to be able to function at 4 ohms or else this could be damaged.COULDNT FIND ANY INFO ON ADCOM GPT600 but I am quite certain that it should be able to take 4 ohmsdoug the reference to the surround is well taken the match on the fronts I am happy with but the surround are quite sparce so I think going to have to beef these up thank s for your responce.
