petemeat
Hi all.. So I've been gathering bits and pieces for my future home theatre for about a year now, and I know the equipment is important.. but I honestly believe that the correct setup & calibration of all items in order for them to work in unison is slightly more important than the gear itself. Look at my signature for the stuff I've got in boxes so far. I would say I listen to music more than I watch movies 70/30. I can't wait to finish my system and listen to Vinyl through tubes, and everything else through the Onkyo or the Integra. So what I'm asking is.. what books would you guys recommend in order for me to learn in depth about home audio, hi fi, room acoustics, calibration, tubes/solid state, Vinyl.. I basically want to learn everything I could possibly need to know in order to get the best performance out of my equipment. My future purchases will be: 1. Sunfire TGA 7401 2. Integra DHC 80.2 | OR | Onkyo PR-SC5508 3. Jolida JD505 4. Pro-Ject RPM 10.1 Evolution 5. Klipsch RF 83's. Cheers & thanks for reading!!! Chris A
Toole's book is pretty much the bible, IMHO: http://www.amazon.com/Sound-Reproduction-Acoustics-Psychoacoustics-Loudspeakers/dp/0240520092/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1297948807&sr=8-1 I've also noted that doing a little "ear training" really helps identify issues in-room: http://www.amazon.com/Critical-Listening-Skills-Audio-Professionals/dp/1598630237/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1297948807&sr=8-4 Chris
Mike 585
Ditto the recommendation of the Toole book. An outstanding, well written and organized work. Technical without being dry. Enjoy, Mike
petemeat
Thanks Cask & Mike! Ordered both books!! Read some reviews on both of them and the authors are seemingly audio legends! Cheers
