angusruler
the work began. i used my bosch 5" sander. starting with 60, then 80, then 100, then 120, and finished up with 220 grit sandpaper. easy, just boring!
angusruler
used some gorilla glue on the raised section, then used some maple filler to fill the gaps.

angusruler
also used satin black spray paint on the m/boards and rear panels.....and also removed the original spkr conn, and used some new daytons from parts express.
angusruler
also recovered the black grills with cane cloth. i think it really goes with the new color. turned out darker than i hoped.....but they do match my cw's very well. when i was thru sanding i put on 2 coats of danish oil, then 3 coats of satin poly. the danish oil really brought out the "character" of the wood. "classy," as the wife says!
