toussi1
How could you build your own sunfire? What drivers out there resemble the sunfire driver. As for the amp, you can forget about that, might as well just by an external 1000watt samson amp. Basically, how could you make a 11" or 12" cube like a sunfire. ------------------ http://www.autodirectsave.com
TheEAR
The answer could be the Earthquake MAGMA drivers.Earthquake makes a 12" woofer and passive radiator.I doubt they would work well in a space as small as Sunfire drivers. It would be more like a 14" cube, with less performance then a Sunfire Signature(13" cube). I know REL uses very similar drivers in their Q200 and Q400 subs.Who makes them? I dont know,TC Sounds maybe??? TheEAR(s) Now theears
toussi1
I don't think the earthquake qualify. According to the Sunfire Specs, it uses a 225oz magnet -> earthquake uses 90oz 3.25 voice coil -> earthquake uses 3" 2.5 inch Peak-Peak -> earthquake 1.5in peak-peak the sunfires are obviously are some impressive drivers ------------------ http://www.autodirectsave.com
TheEAR
Yeah the Sunfire Mark II active driver is some beast. For a 10"(really a 8")its has a gigantic motor structure(magnet). And this thing sure can move air I am sure some must know who makes them for Sunfire.I bet its the same company that makes the woofers for the REL Q200 and 400. Talking about impressive, the Velodyne HGS10 and 12 have huge magnetic structures. And with their push/pull dual tandem VC these are also quite big.
