kg4guy
I purchased a pair of K-43-E's and one reads 3.7 and the other 5.2 the Klipsch MCM 1900 shows impedance of 8-6 for K-43's in the 4 MWM bins according to the file I found? kg4guy
MCM 1900 file shows 8 ohm K-43's under impedance ?
Guest " "
Looks like you are using an ohm meter and therefore measuring resistance or DCR. The 3.7 number is closer to what I have seen for DCR. To measure impedeance, you need something that can generate a signal within the operating frequency range. Tipically the higher you go in frequency the higher the impedeance value will be. I've see cheap impedeance meters that use a 100hz signal to measure impedeance. So basically, what I am saying is you really can't compare DCR or resistance to impedeance numbers. The 5.X DCR reading is spooky. May either be a cold solder (very common), a physical connection issue, or in some cases, I've seen non eminance coils used during re-coning. Panacea Engineering
All of my K-43's measure between 3.9 and 4.2, this is across six new ones and a bunch of older ones in MWM bins. Something is strange with the 5.1 reading, possibly you were not making a good connection with the probe or as Fritz says, a cold solder joint. kg4guy
I have another K-43 that measures 3.6 so I have a pair as I'm going to build another pair of MWM bins to match the ones I built hopefully I can start this week. Thanks
