ricktate
I have had MC 2125 for awhile sounds good but I got HK AVR 20 and it seems to be louder punchier than the MC 2125. So i hooked the Mac to the pre -outs on the AVR thinking my old pre-amp was bad.But still the Mac is lacking in the loudness and bass??? I had the LaScalas hooked to the 8 ohm terminals on the Mac is this correct ?? I never seen this question asked on the forum, any help would be helpfull. ricktate
I forgot to mention the HK AVR has about 50 watss while the Mac has 120 watts i just dont understand the difference in the volume or bass between the two? Should the power guard be off or on? Thanks Rick
ricktate
You would think an amp with 120 watts would stomp all over a 50 watt reciever, but to get about the same volume out of the Mac using the pre outs on the AVR the volume knob has to be at 1 o'clock position. While the AVR only needs 9 o'clock position. Rick
ricktate
Should I post this in 2 channel forum? Rick
tmassey
I am thinking there won't be a lot of people with that amp. Have you tried calling McIntosh customer support?
Quiet_Hollow
You would think an amp with 120 watts would stomp all over a 50 watt reciever Check the math. That's only good for an increase of ~3 dB. A little bit louder, but far from "stomping all over". Knob positions don't mean anything unless they've been calibrated somehow. You need a multimeter and some test tones in order to see what's going in versus what's coming out of each unit.
