endover
Sorry gang...I have dug and dug and can't seem to find a "decoder" for the type of serial number I have on my La Scalas. I see that the question has been asked a million times so I guess I'll make it a million and 1. I have a couple of birch La Scala's that I'm thinking of selling and after digging around on Ebay and other places, I see huge swings in price. "IF" I'm going to do this, I want to ask a fair price so I'm educating myself as much as I can to make sure I don't have some unique combination of parts that makes these more valuabe. They are sequential SN's. The wood has minor surface water-type stains but otherwise are in good condition. Any help will be appreciated. jhoak
I read them as La Scala - Birch - Lacquer built on the 53rd day of 1994 numbers 3230 and 3231. I trust someone here will educate me if I'm wrong about this. As for value? I'm just guessing here but I'd start them out at $1000 and be preparred to take a bit less. I've seen really rough LS pairs go for more and mint pairs go for less. Good luck!
DanO55
I would not go less than 1K. They are worth that at LEAST!
Guest " "
sure...start them at 1K and expect to lower the price on a regular basis to re-generate interest in them until they sell. On ebay.....10 day listings that start and end on a weekend do better than listings that end when everyone is at work. Buy it now with a best offer option will help get dialogue going with folks that have cash and are ready to buy vs folks who don't and just have nothing better to do than to send you emails. Price swings are based a lot of the product and location......someone who is local to you might pay closer to the 1K number than someone who has to ship or drive a long distance.
