Question about moving from 5 to 7 speakers

The current model for the RSW-15 is the SW-311 which is what Klipsch recommends for the RB-81 II HT setup. Unfortunately, at $1,600 this is way outside my price range at this point. At $600 the SW-112 is in my price range and is 300 Watts with a range of 26 - 120 Hz. The SW-115 would be a stretch price wise ($850) but would probably fir better at 400 Watts with a range of 18 - 150 Hz. The Sony SA-W2500 is 100 watts with a 10" cone and a 28 - 200 Hz range. It is left over from the previous setup which was Klipsch Quintet speakers. I'e been upgrading the system a little bit at a time each month.

Given your price range and if you're open to the idea, I'd definitely recommend looking at used gear. Seems weird but I like to look for guys selling whole sets and then attempt to buy the piece I need out of it. I feel way more comfortable buying an RSW-15 from a guy with the entire 7 series to match, then I do buying an RSW-15 from a dude that has just the sub or has the sub paired with a bunch of Sony towers. It's kind of a respect thing, like if he respects the gear enough to try and attain continuity within his system than the chances are he's not going to abuse it. As opposed to the dude who got the sub "on trade from a friend for a lawn mower but it sounds great with my Sonys!) I'm going with the smart money, but back to the point. Your price range would allow you to most likely exceed your current expectations if you'd consider buying used. You've already got the patience thing going for you, which is pretty great I might add. Think about it because it may be your best option. Fwiw, I've never bought anything new in my reference set up. Its all near mint or mint and functionally operates as new, and piecing it together allowed me to get all of the same color scheme if thats important to you as well. At this point with the buying and selling all accounted for over the years my 7.1 Reference system was nearly....entirely...free. Yes, free. Food for thought. Good luck with your purchase and search. I find the search itself quite rewarding albeit time consuming but it CAN pay off. My mantra in trying out new gear or even when searching for that elusive one piece you need to compete your system, is this; Buy low, Sell at market value, Pass on savings to friends when you can.
