bburkava
Hey everybody - We are in the process of a new construction townhouse, and I am in charge of the main family room's A/V. It is a large room that is open to the kitchen - probably 16x30 between both rooms. Right now, the plan is to have my plasma (55" Panny) mounted on the wall, with either in-wall or on-wall speakers. After going through the studded-out layout, the speakers will have to be all mounted vertically if they are in-wall do to the studs and a sprinkler line that can't be moved. Here are my options for the LCR (already using two in-ceiling speakers for surrounds): (3) Klipsch R-5800-W II In-Wall Speaker - these would be three across, all mounted vertically (2) Klipsch R-5800-W II as L and R, (1) Klipsch Gallery G-28 as center below TV (3) Klipsch Gallery G-28 Flat Panel Speaker - on-wall speakers mounted around TV - two vertically, one horizontal These will be driven with a Denon AVR-889, and with an SVS sub (I know I may need a 2nd sub with the size of this room) - system will be for 95% TV and Movies. Does anybody have any thoughts on the different speakers? I am leaning towards the first option with the 3 in-wall speakers, but am concerned with how a vertical bookshelf will look as a center channel. Does anybody have this set up in their system? Any thoughts are appreciated!
wuzzzer
Of the options listed I'd go with the G-28 speakers. On-wall speakers will involve very little intrusion into the wall and will allow for future changes/upgrades. Carving out huge holes in a wall for in-wall speakers will make a lot of work later on if you re-arrange the room or decide to get different speakers.
