nola
Differences: AA LaScala Is 1977ish vs AL-3 LaScala Is 1994? Should these be essentially the same as they are both LaScala 1s? Or is there some difference of significance given the different crossover? Are the inner parts - drivers and horns the same? I also do not understand the actual difference between AA vs AL-3 crossovers, besides lack of oil caps on the AL-3s. Thanks from NOLA
djk
The K55 response is also different (V vs M).
Quiet_Hollow
Should these be essentially the same as they are both LaScala 1s? Yes. Very close, but not identical.Or is there some difference of significance given the different crossover? There's more to their differences than just the crossover. Are the inner parts - drivers and horns the same? No. The former uses a K55V on a K400 horn for the squawker. The latter uses a K55M on a K401.I also do not understand the actual difference between AA vs AL-3 crossovers, besides lack of oil caps on the AL-3s.The AL-3 uses an "elliptic" filter network...latter versions of the AL-3 also used polyswitch tweeter protection in lieu of Zener diodes (as shown in the above cut sheet). The AL-3 being tailored exclusively to maximize the performance of the the K55M/K401 combination, which it accomplished very well.
