ryanm84
I was excited to hook this up to my KG4s while I'm refinishing my Cornwalls. Paired with Adcom GTP 600 preamp. Make all necessary connections and order of events: 1. Sound out of one channel immediately and nothing on the other. 2. Not long after start up other channel kicks in. 3. Same channel shuts off again a few mins later 4. When attempting to power down amp, switch didn't shut power off. 5. Power down sound thru speakers as amp shut off turning off power strip. I don't have other amps or pre-amps to do swap outs with. Just a denon avr 3801. Any ideas on what to look for? Thanks
derrickdj1
What amp are you using with the preamp and I have you made sure that the problem is with the preamp and not the amp?
ryanm84
Adcom Gtp600. Not sure where the problem lies. Looking for a starting point to rule something's in or out.
CECAA850
Simple. Start by swapping L and R RCA's and see it the problem moves. If it moves, it's the pre or the cable. If it doesn't, it's the amp.
ryanm84
I took pre and amp and hooked up a single channel to a speaker. Played music and then switched channels. No problems there either. Power down sound thru the speakers though. Speakers used during this test were not my kg4. Problem noted with those only.
CECAA850
Always turn your amp off before your pre-amp. Youre going to have to hook up the KG4's and duplicate the problem. Once duplicated, swap speaker wires and see if the problem is only with one speaker. If so, you'll need to take a look inside. Most likely culpret is a loose wire.
