Aside from being, IMHO, the best available digital format, given that the CD is still a "lingua franca" with the general public, this allows me to make dither-free transcodes to 16/44.1 for CD purposes. However, I tend to listen to the archive copy of my more beloved LPs as accident is always possible and wear is a reality. Further, I consider myself custodian of this stuff and will hand it to my son. Don't want him going "Crikey, look at the seed burns..."[] Probably listen to more from the source than the digital, but not so much due to quality as to the pleasure of "the thing itself."
