ProMedia 2.1 Sub replacement options?

Recommended Posts

The foam surround on my Promedia 2.1 sub has split and it now sounds like $hit.

What is the recommended repair?

I see:

  • A foam replacement kit on Amazon for $25.
  • A replacement sub on eBay for $35 that isn't Klipsch but supposedly works with the system.
  • A completely new Promedia 2.1 system on eBay for $100

This sub should be available from Klipsch for $10! It isn't anything special.

I don't know what it is about Klipsch subs. My KSW-15 has been a point of contention in my home theater setup but that is a completely different topic.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I'm not normally a big fan of the Klipsch HT subs, but recently they added the SW-115, and folks are really liking it.

I am a fan of Promedia, and I have a 5.1 and a 2.1. To date I haven't found anything that sounds any better. If you know that the foam surround is the problem, then most definitely replace it before buying a driver that may not have the appropriate TS parameters for the box. They sell the kits on Ebay for $22.70 free shipping.

I posted a thread where I replaced the subs driver with a paper surround version off Ebay. Really has worked out well and I don't have to worry about this surround LOL.

Here it is. Looks like you can still get the driver too.
