artto
I have an Audio Research SP6B that I use only as a phono preamp. I haven't turned it on in a couple of years. I figure the caps should be totally discharged by now and since the preamp is nearly 35 years old now would be a good time to replace the caps. Any recommendations on type/manufacturer I should use? Just for the record, the SP6B is one of those "sort of" - "hybrid" preamps with valves on the signal path but with a solid state power supply that employs something known as the Richardson Effect to multiply the effective capacitance (or something like that as I recall). I have no idea how this affects the capacitors or their replacement. If anyone can shed some light on this - much appreciated.
