digiorgio
Hello, I am a neophyte when it comes to hooking up my system. I received my new ksw-12 sub yesterday and am having trouble figuring out the best settings. Placement is not a problem. I am unsure of the best connection to use (speaker wire vs LFE), level setting, crossover frequency, receiver settings etc. My system is as follows: Pioneer VSX-D710S Receiver Klipsch SF-1 Tower Front speakers Klipsch SC1 Center Channel Bose 301 Bookshelf surrounds Hitachi 53 inch widescreen rear projection TV JVC XV-S500BK Progressive Scan DVD player Currently, I have the speakers all hooked up directly to the receiver. The sub is hooked up to the subwoofer out on the receiver via the white RCA jack on the back of the sub. Receiver settings are as follows: I have fronts as LARGE and center and surrounds as SMALL, crossover freq. is 150 Hz., LFE attenuator setting 0dB, Low cut filter OFF. On the back of the sub, I have: level at 10, Phase at 0, Power Auto, Crossover 100Hz My main use is for home theatre with occasional music. The current sound is ok but I fear it is not optimal. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
boa12
welcome! how low are your big speakers suppose to go? how low does the crossover setting in the pioneer go? takes some experimenting to find, but usually best way to go is set all the speaks to small in your receiver. if your tower speaks go down to say 40hz, then it would be best to set the pioneer crossover say at 50hz. turn the crossover on the ksw all the way up to 120hz. don't want to cut lfe from the receiver. assuming when you have a sub it sends all lfe to the sub only as most all do. ------------------ My Home Systems Page
Klipsch-daddy
I have found the best way is to not skimp on the cable, go ahead and buy the $25 monster cable and a y splitter. Its worth the money. I have my crossover setting set to aboutt 70 hz. The gain on mine is in the 3 oclock position. I dont know if its mine but I have to turn mine up that much to get the desired rattle and bass I want. I know its not my reciever. Its a Yama rxv-800. Good luck. ------------------ Home Theater: Yamaha RX-V1000 Klipsch RF-3's Klipsch KSC-C1(LOOKING FOR A RC-3 OR RC-3II) Kenwood KSV64 Bipolar Speakers Klipsch Subwoofer KSW-12 Television: TOSHIBA THEATER VIEW 50" DVD Player SONY S-360 CD Changer CDC 585 5 Disc Yamaha Harman Kardon TC-1000 monster cable interconnects/12 gauge speaker wire
