DANOCASTER
I have a quick question..I'm just hooking up my 299 for the first time and I'm not sure about the spk terminals. There are "0"s which I assume is ground and then 4 and 16 ohm taps but the 8 ohm tap has some jumper wire going BACK INSIDE the scott chassis. Looks totally stock so I'm sure there is some simple thing. Do I just put my spade on that SAME 8 ohm tap?? And what's it for ?? I'll be using Chorus Is today but TOMMORROW I GET CORNWALLS !!!!!!!! WHHHHOOOOOPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE This message has been edited by DANOCASTER on 08-18-2002 at 01:49 PM
NOSValves
Dan, The wires that are now hooked to the 8 Ohm taps are for the phase reversal switch on the front of the amp. If I was you I would unhook the wires that are hooked to the 8 ohm taps and tape them off and then hook your positive speaker wire to the 8 Ohm tap and Neg to 0 tap. What this does is bypasses the phase reversal switch. One less curcuit to foul up the sound. Craig Also have you turned this amp on before ?? has it been in use lately that you know of ?? This can be a risky under taking if a cap is shorted or filter can is shorted. These things should be brought up on a variac if they haven't been in use lately.
