Oscillation

"The time period of a pendulum depends on the length of the pendulum."  

 

In watching the example, all my feeble mind could tell me was that the longer pendulum required a longer path per oscillation, which, to me, is kind of like measuring the amplitude.

Yeah, I agree. It's hard not to see "amplitude" in this model of oscillation.

If you imagine a sine wave, the peak would be the left side maximum, and the trough would be the right hand max swing. The length of the string is then changes the frequency. Shorter string higher frequency of oscillation.
