Updating Cornwalls

I noticed in my Cornwall II's that there is no dampening material attached to the inside of the cabinet walls. However, in older Cornwalls they use to dampen the walls. Are there any advantages of adding dampening material? Whay did Klipsch stop using dampening material?

Cornwall II uses a different woofer from the Cornwall I and has different parameters. Evidently, the Cornwall II woofer (K34? - can't remember)) needs less damping than the Cornwall I woofer (K33). The box has to match the woofer.

I'm not sure that the woofers are different, I once talked to Trey Cannon about this and I thought he said the woofers are identical other than the K-34 has a thinner front gasket because it is front mounted on the Cornwall II. I have also wondered why the Cornwall II does not have damping material inside.

I was speaking with a Klipsch engineer about the minimal dampening in my Cornwalls. It was his understanding that the dampening was used to control a bump in the response around 200hz. Klipsch determined that it didn't help much so they eliminated it in later models.
