baco99
Hi! Selling a pair of Mirage SM-1 speakers. They are a simple 2-way design. Philips 1" soft dome tweeter and Peerless 8" poly cone woofer. Simple crossover. The cabinets are in very good condition with woodgrain "faux-neer". The grill frames and cloth are in great shape. All original except new foam on the woofer. Lightweight, but full sound. This speaker is what started it all for Mirage. They image very well. Bass changes with room placement pretty significantly. I added some poly fill to the inside to help reduce the boom and it worked. $85 OBO, shipping is possible on the buyer's dime. Pulled some specs from the interwebz: Kevin Voecks designed 87-db efficiency 200-watt power handling 4-ohm (testing in the magazine report noted below says they basically run as an 8-ohm) 3000 Hz crossover 12-in wide x 8-in deep x 23-in tall 25 lbs / speaker walnut vinyl veneer binding posts From a magazine review: "The Mirage SM-l is a speaker which practically everybody liked. It is not flashy in its construction or its musical reproduction - there are no sonic fireworks here - and may be a particularly good speaker for people who listen to music for very long durations. It is not the world's most accurate loudspeaker, but at its modest price level, it certainly holds its own against the competition and represents good value for money spent" Pictures Edited April 14, 2016 by baco99
