Jim
I'm in the process of getting a few mods done to a few of my stylus. One is getting re-tipped with a shibata, and the other is getting redone with a cactus cantilever and shibata tip. I was looking to see if anyone has ever done this before and how they liked it. I've read about doing a Ruby cantilever and shibata tip, and this one came up in conversation. So I figured I'd give it a try.
Schu
Ruby is wonderful... really. Smooth and very crisp. I have not heard the cactus tipped set up personally, but I do know they are supposed to be good if done correctly. One can imagine them being more woody or natural, but who knows for sure until experienced in person.
Jim
I was also contemplating the Ruby, but was told they are extremely fragile. I may still do it as I have 2 stylus that need repair from when I purchased the cartridges, so I figured I'd get them done over. How is care on the Ruby? Here's the cactus cantilever and shibata.
