bluefishbob
I am trying to choose surrounds to match front rf-83's. Both are pricey for surrounds. There are several cheaper alternatives but I am not sure they are powerful enough to match the fronts. My center is an RC-3 which works fine even though it is not the perfect match for the 83's. My current surrounds are KSB 2.1, which is why I want to upgrade. My great room will only allow surrounds at each back corner of the couch. Any comments? BluBitRates
The RS62 is what you want but RS62ii or RP-250s will both be great. First off though get a Rc-64 and do not worry about your surrounds so much. This would have been better off posted in the home theater forum by the way
Moderators Youthman Posted March 19, 2016 Moderators Share Posted March 19, 2016 I've owned both the RF-83's and the RC-3 and honestly, if you like the RC-3, you would be thoroughly impressed with the improvement even from an RC-62 which isn't ideal, but would be a huge step up from the RC-3. RC-64 would be your best sound though. To save some money, I would have no hesitation recommending the RS-52. I used them for a few years with my RF-83 and they had no problem keeping up with the RF-83's.
Moderators Youthman Posted March 19, 2016 Moderators Share Posted March 19, 2016 IMO, the RC-3 always sounded somewhat muffled, the RC-62 and RC-64 would provide much more clarity in the dialogue.
