pierceb
Well, I have a loaner one here at home with a new one on order, and it seems this one a packed it in. I'm not sure what has happened to it, but it seems to me like the servo unit has failed. The woofer cone seems to make sudden surges (and snap-like sounds), and does not appear to move in sync with sound like it is supposed to. It is making sound, but not very good quality. I don't think that I've been particularly hard on this thing, the gain on my 3802 is set at 0 and the level on the sub is set at about 11 o'clock on the dial (below half). I have been known to turn the volume up to close to 0db on the 3802, but I still don't think the sub is working that hard. Again, I don't think the woofer is blown itself, it just doesn't sound like that is the problem. Has anyone else had trouble with these units? Please Help! -PB
prodj101
you're right, doesn't sound like a blown sub. It takes more than you would think to blow a speaker. I once had some midilands rated for 10 watts max, got them up to past uncomfortable levels and they popped. Your problem sounds more like a defective servo you said. take it into the local shop and have them take a look at it because there isn't alot yo ucan do to fix that problem on your own. ------------------ New music system: 2.1 using SF-2's (soon to be RF-7's), and an RSW-15. for amplification Mcintosh MC02105, Sony SACD player. pioneer turntable.
