Joakimsson
Hi! I just bought a pair of Klipsch R-15PM active speakers. They sound really good but when I'm using my turntable through the speakers is the volume about 50% of the volume that I get if I use my phone with Bluetooth or my Mac through the USB port. I've tried using an external pre-amp as well, it was a cheap one but i don't know if that matters. Do you guys know if this is normal? I'm new to turntables but I thought it was possible to play my music pretty loud using my turntable. http://www.rega.co.uk/planar-1.html http://www.klipsch.com/products/r-15pm-powered-monitors
pbphoto
Double check on the back of the Klipsch that the line/phono input is set to phono when your Rega is connected to it. Your Rega Carbon cartridge has average (2.5mV) output for a MM cartridge, but I wouldn't expect it to play as loud as your other digital sources.
Joakimsson
Yes it's set to phono. Do you have any tips on how to make it play louder? Would it help to buy an new cartridge or turntable? I can still return the turntable for free, so it wouldn't be a problem to change it. I know they got the http://eu.audio-technica.com/hifi-phono/turntables/AT-LP120-USBHC in the store as well. pbphoto
Just to confirm, the sound quality of the turntable is great, but the problem is the speakers can't amplify it loud enough to your liking? Even after cranking up the volume on the speakers, the turntable audio isn't loud enough? Other sources (usb, bluetooth) also sound great and loud? Joakimsson
That's correct. I max out the volume. All the other sources is fine, it's even loud enough when I connect my phone through the line input with converter. Would it help to maybe change these speakers with the Klipsch RP-160M and get an receiver or amplifier? http://www.klipsch.com/products/reference-premiere-bookshelf-speakers#rp-160m
