Klipsch HIP Graphic EQ Yes or No

Hey Gang

I use a pair of HIPs with a powered subwoofer for my home DJ set up.  I was thinking about adding a graphic eq to my system but I have read that this can lead to blown drivers if not used properly.   I just bought an Ashly MQX-2310 for a great price but I’m a bit hesitant to hook it up.  It would be used to tune the speakers to my room.  Any words of wisdom?  Is this even necessary?

thanks!

The problem is when too much boost is added at certain frequencies and then dumping a bunch of watts into them that's a sure way to blow a driver. If you feel you need to level out the speakers with an EQ just try and take away from frequencies to match everything instead of boosting others to make up for it if that makes sense? Any boosting should be reserved for low volume listening IMO kind of like a loudness button.
