The idea is to replace that woofer with the R-115SW woofer and then stack the Cornwall on top of a R-115SW. It'll show off the dual 15's and bringing the Cornwall up to ear level. moray james Posted July 21, 2018 Share Posted July 21, 2018 No way that the R-115SW woofer will function properly in a CW cabinet the T/S parameters are too different. You can simply stack your CW on top of the Sub box and use the sub to fill in below the CW and run the CW full range. That is generally how subs like this are used. If you wanted to use a different woofer in your CW it would need to have similar T/S values, if it did not then you would have to re tune the vent for the new woofer. Stacking the CW up on the sub as previously mentioned should work well provided your room cooperates with your desired placement but you do have the adjustable filter and the level control in the sub so you should be good to go. efzauner Posted July 30, 2018 Share Posted July 30, 2018 The subwoofer driver would probably be grossly less sensitive than the Cornwall woofer.. plus it wont go high enough in frequency to meet the midrange cross over frequency at 600Hz. Plus honest.. the Cornwalls go down to 30Hz . you dont need more for all music apart from the most extreme pipe organ or electronic music with lots of exaggerated bass. moray james Posted July 30, 2018 Share Posted July 30, 2018 Cone mass will determine the high frequency response (roll off) of the woofer not the size. Lots of 15 inch woofers (18 too) will play up to 5KHz no problem so long as you don't mind them having hot and cold spots across width and height due to additive and subtractive reflections within the cone itself. You need to remember that reflex loaded drivers roll off below their resonant tuning point like a rock at 24 db per octave rate of slope so any response a CW has at 30 is not going to do much for you since the CW is tuned in the upper 40 Hz range. This goes for every reflex system be it a vent or a passive radiator they behave the same so far as tuning and roll off go. A sealed box on the other hand rolls off below tuning at 12 db per octave so you can see the advantage they offer. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
