ChrisK
I own and operate a small gourmet foods shipping company (8 employees). In the warehouse my employees have a cheap boom-box playing music. They listen to mostly Mexican Ranchero music which, btw, is growing on me. Anyway, I'd like to put a cheap, durable system together to improve the sound. Maybe a vintage receiver, some type of speaker that doesn't mind a dusty, cold and damp enviroment, and a cd changer. I have a line on a Marantz 2240b receiver. Is this a good choice? What speakers and cd changer might work best? Thanks in advance, Chris
dougdrake
You are a very benevolent employer - cheers to you!! One of those late 70's Marantz units will drive the system nicely, and you can find some of them cheap on Ebay or at garage sales. I have a 2230 I picked up for $8. For the speakers, I'm thinking (perhaps incorrectly) a pair of KG4s. They used a polycarbonate woofer cone, which I think would stand up well to the environment you are describing. Plus, they put out some great sound! DD
