I need Cones...

...or something to that effect for these amps I'm getting.

I want the most effective way to isolate without breaking my bank account (as if I had any money left to worry about).

Hi Dean:

Cones are a tricky item. All (aluminum, ceramic, carbon fiber, composite) impart different sonic characteristics to the music playback. Also the type of shelf material the cone will touch can make a difference to the sound. Albeit, these differences are relatively minor. You may even prefer Vibrapods under the amps.

There's no set rules, so try different types and decide which you like.

I have less than $100 left for this "upgrade" -- so I can't really try different things. I pretty much only get one shot. The amps have a wood base, and I'm using one of the solid cherry center pieces out of our dining room table (we never use(d) it, the dining room is too small to accomdate a table the length of a football field). This "table" sits on the floor between the RF7's.

I never liked pods or navcom pucks or anything squishy under my tube amps or preamps. To me, cones do a much better job depending on what your stand is or where you have them placed. As Mike said, there are many different materials and prices that go with them. Try them under your preamp as well.

Roller bearings have received much praise in the recent past as superior to cones and squishy feet. There is a manufacturer that offers such bearings for $99, but I can't remember which. Look on www.audiogon.com at the tweaks section and you'll find such devices (look for the $99 price).
