docmenace
I have: Mains-RP-3's Center-RC-3 Sub-Velodyne SPL12 My question is, think I should get the RF-3's for the surrounds or the RS-3's? Would the RF-3's be alot better
jeffgeorge
The RF-3's would be alot different, better frequency range, but not as much in the way of dispersion. One possibility that might be the best of both worlds, would be RS-3's with a subwoofer like a KSW-10 or KSW-12. Will it be more for music, or HT ? ------------------ RF-3's : mains RC-3 : center RS-3's : surrounds KSW10 X 2 : subwoofers Receiver: Denon 2801 DVD: Panasonic DVD-A120 CD: Yamaha CDC-765 Cables: Tributaries Sat Receiver: Hughes Direct-TV DD5.
docmenace
Thanks for the reply. I use my system about 50/50 for HT and music, also I have found I prefer to listen to my music in 2 channel stereo, but maybe this is because I really have not listened in 5.1 very often. Music is as important as HT to me. Also my reciever is the Yamaha RX-V1000
docmenace
This is what I was thinking Main (a) RP-3's ( RF-3's center- RC-3 surrounds- RS-3's Sub-Velodyne SPL12 Then I started to think maybe I could just save some money and use my RF-3's for the Main (b's) and the surround's, since it's easy enough to move the banana plug. But the question is would the RS-3's do a better job as the surrounds. I don't want to add a sub. My velodyne pounds and I have 2 10"'s in the RP-3's. Thanks
ColaBear
According to the Dolby Site, surrounds should actually be direct radiating speakers aimed at the listening area. Other speakers designs are OK, but Dolby prefers direct radiating. Here is the URL straight from the Dolby Site talking about surrounds: http://www.dolby.com/ht/sound/sound3.html I currently use klf30s for mains and surrounds. I am toying with the idea of buying another pair of KLF30s to do rear effects. Currently I am using a KSP-S6 for this now. ------------------ ************************* KLF-30 mains KLF-C7 center KLF-30 surrounds KSP-S6 rear center KSW200 subwoofer Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV-09 Pioneer Elite PD-F19 RCA DTC1000 Sony Playstation 2 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D-600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain

docmenace
I took a look and because of proper speaker placement, which was different than I thought, I will get the RS-3's and the RF-3's. RS-3's for surround and RF-3's for Main (. Thanks for the help.
