cdsang
I just got my SPL meter and did a test on my system. I used the digital version the Radioshack SPL meter doing fast responce, c weighting and did both the RMS and peak test. The RMS was about 110 dB while the peak was about 116. Any higher then this, and my system can't take it much more. I was wondering if this was loud enough. What is the reference level anyway? Any answers would be great. justin_tx_16
is it loud enough for you? i think that is what really matters. however, yes 110dB is loud, pretty darn loud too! what matters with reference is what frequencies get this loud, like how loud at 20Hz. Doc Holiday
your receive depending on how much it flattens out on its peak to peak frequency is what is going to matter. Well 128 is about sitting 3rd row of a concert and that usally does damage. 86 is i think normal coversation level.... my system peaks at about 97 and rms from 30 hz to 19000 hz is about 87 so thats good enough for me..... it gets loud enough to have the occasional party and do some hearing damage.... lol
