There is a truth in signal processing that is drilled endlessly into those of us who study it (I am an engineer and my specialty is signal processing): Interpolation does not increase information. That is to say, if you start with 16/44.1, then no matter what frequency you resample to, no matter how many bits you create in the process, the result will never contain more information than the original 16/44.1 signal.
