Klipsch R41-M speakers and banana plugs

Hi all.

I just purchased all my speakers for a home theater build I am doing, its my first ever.

For surrounds I went with the R41-M bookshelves.

I plan to use Sewell Silverback Banana plugs so as I need to move them around, I can.

having never used them before I just had a question.

The holes in the binding posts after you remove the dust covers look very small to me, do these banana plugs fit?

They also make pins, instead of plugs that are the size of 12 AWG wire I believe.
But I prefer the Silverback plugs I mentioned ( not sure if I can post a link so I wont, unless it is ok and necessary.)

The plugs in pics just look too big to fit in these tiny holes, so I was hoping that someone here has experience with this and can tell me whether or not they have used Sewell Silverback plugs in theire Klipsch speakers or not and if so how they fit.

Their specs show they are 3.4 - 4.7 mm outside diameter.

  • Total Length: 1 3/4in (45mm)
  • Plug Length 0.75in (19.5mm)
  • Plug diameter: 0.13-0.18in  (3.4-4.7mm)
  • Outside Diameter (sleeve): 0.4in (10.5mm)
  • Inside Diameter (sleve): 0.34in (8.5mm)
  • Sleeve lenght: 1in (25.5mm)
  • Outside Diameter (connector): 0.3in (7.7mm)
  • Inside Diameter (connector): 0.17in (4.4mm)
  • Connector depth 0.59in (15mm)

IS that pretty standard?

Do Klipsch speakers support 4.7 mm banana plugs?

Thanks for any information on this.

@lumper

The banana plugs will fit properly.  If you look closely at the tips, you will notice that they are hollow, with the sides being leaf springs.  This allows them to fit snugly in holes of any close size.

Just make sure that you screw the binding posts all the way in before inserting the plugs.  You don't want to bend or break anything.
