Turntable with captive audio cable modification?

I have nothing vintage or expensive. A nice mid priced Thorens TD-203 w/ their uni-pivot tonearm. It's since been discontinued but is a lot of bang for the buck.

The downside is it has a cheap generic captive hardwire phono cable that I would like to change.

Below are the best cost options I've seen. Are there cheaper options out there?

Pro-Ject RCA junction box at $60 usd and use my own interconnects I have laying around.

or...

Pro-Ject phono cable and cut connectors off one end and hardwire to my Thorens (there are also generic Chinese phono cables for cheaper)

Obviously the junction box is most versatile, but I'm not going to switch cables around to find the best sound. I just want to upgrade from the cheap generic thin phono cable that is fix to the turntable.

I happen to own a Pro-ject Essential 3 tt and take it from me, that junction box you posted a link of looks much better built than the plastic one that is on the back of my Project tt, so I would definitely go for that after market project.

If your generic phono cable is decent quality and issue free, I would keep it. I myself have had issues with my Project one, so a famous 'brand' doesn't guarantee excellent quality!
