Help in 7.1 speaker upgrade

Happy New Year to all,

After purchasing the Pioneer receiver I would like to make my system 7.1.

The yellow and white boxes are the rear speakers that will need to be purchased.

Attached is my current layout and my desired layout. What I need to know is;

Are the RS-7 the correct speaker to use where I have placed them?

Which rear channel configuration should I use, 1 white boxes or 2 yellow boxes?

What speaker is recommended for the rear channels?

Thank you for your help.

Scott

Wow Scott that is a real challenging space.If you're not all hung-up on THX Ultra2 spec I think you'd be happier with placement #1, that way the rear surrounds wouldn't be right near your head(too close)If they are intended to only be active during movies you could manually adjust them to what ever sound level your confortable with and have them in the #2 position.I listen to alot of music(in large room)and enjoy the 7 chanel stereo mode,high levels of sound pressure that close(#2) is probably unhealthy!

Scott,

I have a very similar room. I use RS-7s on the sides and RS-3IIs behind the sofa with about 3 feet between them. The fronts are 7s across the board.

I use the RS-3s because they take up less room, and they are not used that much by current movies. However, I suspect that 6.1 movies will become more common.
