  1. Thors, I think your on right track by going on line to get a pair of RF-7's.You'll really get alot of quailty sound and will cherish your investment for many years. As a caviot; they reproduce their signal very well and will unvail any deficencies of amps/sound sources/interconnects etc. Dan
  2. I believe the primary change was to go with Monsterwire internally.Prabably no real tonal difference! Dan
  3. Wow Scott that is a real challenging space. If you're not all hung-up on THX Ultra2 spec I think you'd be happier with placement #1, that way the rear surrounds wouldn't be right near your head(too close)If they are intended to only be active during movies you could manually adjust them to what ever sound level your confortable with and have them in the #2 position.I listen to alot of music(in large room)and enjoy the 7 chanel stereo mode, high levels of sound pressure that close(#2) is probably unhealthy!
  4. mrt, I predict a verrry happy new year for you. Can you picture the RB-5's as rear surrounds and some RF-7's in front?
  5. Well Spin no video upconversion on the 47, how that affects you will depend on your display inputs and source outputs, for me no problem. It's a pretty intelligent reciever- real easy to get up and running good, so you'll be smiling sooner! I've enjoyed trouble free performance and still marvel at how well it makes my Klipsch perform.
  6. The WDST benifits of the RS series may not be the best choice for rear surrounds in a narrow application. From what I understand alot of rear surrounds are relatively close together and a more directional speaker/s are more appropriate.
  7. Is your sub dead while playing all sources or just dvd?
  8. Moon, I maybe missing something here.If you want to know the effect of no rear clearance- move you RF-7's against the wall now and listen, then move them out and sit in your sweet spot and listen. Know I like more than 12" space behind mine... better low end in 2-channel. Why would you even want to hide these beauties? They sure look purty with grills off, their veneer shining, diaphrams pulsing, filing your soul with sweet music- even when your eyes are closed!
  9. Pretty sure it could be found online for less than $2400
  10. I agree w/Artto. The bedroom shape and size will leave you unhappy w/HT.Think existing room could be a nice HT.How high is ceiling?
  11. You probably don't want to wall mount your speaker- there are 2 ports on the back. Home Depot has wall mounts for t.v's rated to 100 lbs. It's what I use for my RC-7. Got mine in black- matches t.v.The mount swivels, and tilts up or down.Has neat lip on front.Matches the depth of my set so speaker has plenty of room to reflect off rear wall and matchup with front of screen. I like the swivel aspect because it is easier to dust speaker, back of set.Cost about $50.
  12. ZD, checked the basic schematic on my VSX-47TX, pretty similar to the 49TX, shows 4 power amps one each for fronts, center, surrounds, surround backs. When driven at moderate levels my reciever generates alot of heat, believe manual recommends 9+ inches headroom above. Dan
  13. Real graphic depiction of war...not for faint of heart or those of tender years. Sound rocks
  14. m00n, The Sound & Vision review ref'd by Keith maybe the one featured in the May 02 issue. How you mounting the rear RC-7?
