SCOOTERDOG
Hello my fellow Klipsch friends, I have a pair of La Scala's I bought new back in 1980. When I bought them they were of the raw birch kind. I have since refinished them twice. I decided that I would like to lighten them up from the current finish of dark walnut. What I am concerned with is sanding to deep into the birch plywood since I have already done this once before. Is a chemical stain and varnish remover a better way to go? Also I have a few chips on the bottom front corner sides (thanks to my wifes vacuum) that need to be repaired. I would like to know what you all think is the best method for repairing these short of going to a cabinetmaker. I have attached a photo of the damage to the cabinet. Thanks Everyone
greg928gts
I've decided to re-veneer my Khorns. You might consider that option. The sides and top of the La Scalas are very easy rectangles. You'd have to finish the front edges of the plywood. You might consider another option for the inside of the bass horn, like painting them black, or making custom grille cloth covers. Hope this helps.
