prodj101
what do you guys have to say about these amps? are they any good?
mobile homeless
They have been discussed in here many times but sadly, the search feature will probably not locate it. Give it a try. They are considered some of the better vintage McIntosh units with tube rectification. They do need good NOS EXPENSIVE valve options to reach their potential. Some love the McIntosh sound but others looks elsewhere. On the other hand, they were built VERY well and are easy on their tubes due to the circuit. The MC30 Monoblock seems to be one of the sleepers of the line as most look to the stereo amps. Expect PS cap upgrades somewhere. Write Allan Songer of the forum if you are really interested and cant find info via the search. He OWNS a pair and has tried about every NOS tube option. He runs his with vintage vert driver Cornwalls. kh ps- Who in the hell wrote that sig line? The last phrase is a real head scratcher... CaptnBob
There's a pretty lengthy discussion around Jan. 2, 2003 here on this. I think it's called "MC-30 vs 8b"
