Klipsch Promedia 2.1 THX Subwoofer Sounds Wrong

Yesterday my Klipsch Promedia 2.1 THS Subwoofer started to sound weird. It almost sounds like there is a bad connection as it was very scratching towards the midrange that it plays. It has never done it before and has come out of the blue.  There is nothing wrong with the diaphragm that I can see.

Suggestions?

How old is the system ?

All of the connections can be cleaned

all of the controls can be cleaned

Turn off the EQ in the software you are using

I have had zero luck with the EQ software in the media players

it probably requires a DSP or several DSPs to function correctly

and the SW would have to be aware of the DSPs,

from the DSP vendor.

The unit has it's own amplifier, which can have problems like failing capacitors etc.....
