Randu
Hi I am buying a used KG-2.2 center channel speaker (with pair of KG-5.2's). In checking the specs, it looks like the only difference was added magnetic shielding on the "V" version (about 4-lbs worth?). Will a KG-2.2 without the shielding cause interference in my video? Is that the reason the shielding was added? Is there something I can do myself to add shielding to the 2.2? What about upgrading the internal wires, will it make much difference? Thanks
STL
So you got that good deal on eBay! I was trying to talk my brother-in-law into getting that setup, but he kept dragging his feet. If you have a projection TV (front of rear) then you don't have to worry about the magnets causing problems when placing the speaker on top of the TV. If you have a regular tube TV then you need to call 1-800-KLIPSCH and get the bucking magnets. Then all you need is some good epoxy and some clamps. Randu
Yup, that was me. I'm glad to hear you think it's a good deal, I thought so but I didn't really know what the 5.2's sold for used. Compared to a new pair of 5.5's it's a steal! I paid $350 for the pair of 5.2's + a 2.2 center. (about the price of an RC-3) The seller didn't seem to know much about the center, I'm hoping it's the 2.2V not the 2.2 & he just didn't know... we'll see soon. Randu
Mmmm good news The seller said that he double checked and it IS the 2.2V
t1200
hey- I want to upgrade my rears (kg.5's) to either kg 2.5's or 2.2v's. If the only difference is the video shielding (hence the "v" for video), then I should try to get the 2.5's for the rear channels?

Earle Decker
Nice setup. I have 5.2s for my mains with a 2.2v for the center. I use 4.2 for my surrounds. You will love the 5.2s sound. earle

STL
If I can find a single KG5.5 tweeter then I'll be selling the single KG4.2 that I have. Technically speaking the KG5.5 and KG4.2 both use a K-85-K tweeter, but the horn lenses are made of different materials and the phase plugs are different on those tweeters so I'm being anal and looking for a lone KG5.5 (or a lone KG4.5).
