aab3rd Posted February 18, 2003 Share Posted February 18, 2003 I bought a pair of Fortes a while back because they were a good deal ($400) and decided to replace my KLF 20s with them since I liked the sound of the Fortes better for music. Before I put them in my HT an ACADEMY came up for sale on e-bay. You know how rare that is. Low and behold I won the Academy. After a delay in shipping since the owner is away on business a lot, it finally arived. I tore open the box with great eagerness. After pulling the speaker out, I found out IT WAS DAMAGED IN SHIPPING. Four of the corners were dinged, there was a ding on the top back edge, and a CRACK down the back side of the speaker. I am now sending it back for reimbursement. THANKS UPS!!! You know, this is terrible when there are so few of these out there. It ought to be against the law. The search continues. Another BB member purchased an Academy on a BIN on eBay the guy wrote him back and said his son had dropped and damaged it. Then a few weeks later it popped up on eBay again at a higher price. Who was the eBay seller? I do recall the auction, it may be the one that I am thinking of. I am also not sure who the BB member was. Does the damage to the carton coincide with the damage on the speaker. You may have been cheated! I would look into it further. Can you post a link to the auction listing? It was plainly damaged due to poor packaging by the business who he used to pack and ship it. I have had UPS pick it up for inspection. I hope I do not get screwed.
