Mallette
...is something you don't HEAR everyday. A stereo 78! My friend Ron found a sale of some 5,000 lps yesterday. Amongst other gems, there was a Leon Redbone 78, in stereo. It appeared pristine. We dropped it on my Empire with the Grado 78 needle, and there was Leon, in glorius stereo! There was a right channel click cluster that was identical all through the disc, so I have decided it may have been intentional. Lord knows doing a stereo 78 is strange enough on it's own. The intentional part is supported...as I hypothesized to Ron it might...by the fact that Sound Forge NX could not eliminate it completely. If these clicks were synthesized, they would have much larger signatures than regular groove. Also, it's present on both sides. Any, one tune is "Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone," and the other is "Alabama Jubilee." The cover is dated 1976. A fascinating sound. Completely open and airy. Anybody ever heard of this?
