mopar dave
for two channel listening, should i use the optical or the rca hook up when used with yamaha rx v2092 and cornwalls. currently using a dvd player, hooked coax for two channel and i think it sounds too digital at high volume. thanks dave
easylistener
I have alsways used the digital hookup. It always sound goods to me. I would say try it and if you like it then keep it.
j-malotky
Dave It really depends on what DACs do a better job. If you have an older CD player and a newer receiver with higher bit DACs, then the digital connection makes more sence. Since most 2CH guys (myself included) use older preamps that do not have build in DACs, this is not an option. JM
mopar dave
not sure what the yamaha rx v2092 has for converters, but its about five years old. the cd changer yamaha cdc775 is about two or three years old. it uses yamaha's S bit plus digital-to-analog conversion. it uses two dac's per channel. dave
cyclonecj
I recently did a bit of experimenting with my system, trying 3 different sources. The inputs I tried came from my CD player, my DVD player, & then a computer with a digital output sound card, switching each from the digital to the analog outputs. I found that my receiver (Onkyo DS-777) has a poor sounding DAC, especially compared to my older Adcom CD player. Even my DVD player sounder better using the analog outs. This is strange, since my receiver has a higher bit rate DAC than my older Adcom GCD 575 . Let your ears decide.
